Products & Services
ON-LINE LEAK SEALING
Furniture under pressure leak sealing services are provided through out
the world.
The process, using asbestoses-free compounds specially formulated to
suit many different products, has successfully solved leak problems at
oil refineries, oil and gas platforms, chemical plants, nuclear and
conventional power stations, iron and steel works, pulp and paper mills, food
and drink processing plants, marine and many other industries.
Leaks can be sealed while plant continues to operate at normal line
pressure and temperature, ranging from 100m bar vacuum to 350 bar and
form -300C to 6000C.
Specialist techniques which have been developed include methods for
dealing with the particularly difficult problem of oil leaks from
transformers and other equipment, including those from main, turret and
top joints, as well as intricate valves and irregularly shaped flanges.
.
ON-SITE MACHINING
The furniture on-site machining services provides portable machines and
skilled technicians to meet a variety of plant maintenance requirements
which call for in-situ machining operations. Applications covered
include flange facing up to 6,096mm (240"); pipe cutting any
diameter, pipe end profiling and weld preparation; drilling in excess
of 203mm(8") in diameter and 1,016mm (40") in depth;
milling keyway milling and fly cutting; journal turning over a wide
range of diameters on journals with stepped diameter profiles and
ring grooves; tyre grinding on large diameter rotating plant; line
boring in excess of 1,524mm (60") in diameter; and boring for core
removal or machining out worn pins. Trepanning to larger diameters is
also available using our standard range of equipment.
NEW JOINT SYSTEMS
Several types of joints, including large bonnet, heat exchanger and
heater body joints, can be modified to incorporate Furmanite's planted
injectable seal grooves by combining the machining and leak sealing
services.
JOINT PARTING
Very large diameter flanged joints can be parted by purpose-built
hydraulic rigs. The gradual application of hydraulic pressure ensures
that no shock lod is involved and that the risk of damage is minimal.
STANDARD and SPECIAL PURPOSE PORTABLE MACHINE TOOLS
Designed and manufactured in house to BS5750 specifications, the Furmanite
range of silk portable machine tools include a comprehensive series of
standard flange facers covering diameters from zero to 3,048mm
(120"), as well as a variety of milling, drilling, boring and
journal turning machines, all of which are available for sale. Special
purpose for customers with specific operational requirements are also
available.
TREVITEST
ON-LINE SAFETY AND RELIEF VALVE TESTING
Trevitest is patented hydraulic system for on-line testing of safety
and relief valves in steam, water, air, gas and process systems while
the plant continues to operate at normal pressure and temperature. Trevitest
can also test valves 'cold' when there is no line pressure.
A remote, multi-pen recorder provides a datemarked certified print-out
of the lift pressure. Line pressure at the valve or valve
displacement can also be recorded. Results achieved with the Trevitest
system are normally within +/- 1% of set pressure when the valve
is tested on-line.
An intrinsically safe Trevitest unit is now also available which has
been specifically designed for safe operation in potentially
hazardous plant areas.
HOT TAPPING and LINE PLUGGING
Furmanite has developed a variety of specialist hot tapping and
line plugging technique to enable modification or repair of pipeline
system to be carried out without the need for shutdown or interruption
of production.
The service covers application ranging from small bore emergency
operations to large planned modification carried out to operating plant.
In all cases the pressure-containing hardware is designed and
manufactured in house and is used in conjunction with appropriate
hot tapping and plugging equipment.
In addition to individual operations, a comprehensive hot tapping and
line plugging service package is available comprising a site visit to
establish the best solution, design and manufacture of hardware,
installation and testing, through to hot tapping the connection ready
for use.
BOLT TIGHTENING
Furmanite provide a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art bolt
tightening equipment to onshore and offshore industry. All equipment is
available either for sale or hire or as part of the Furniture on-site
service.
BOLT TENSIONING
This most accurate method of tightening threaded fasteners uses advanced
hydraulic technology to include bolt stresses to an accuracy 0f +/- 12%
without creating torsional or bending stress. The hydraulic heads are of
the smallest possible diameter to allow access into previously difficult
locations. Accuracy checks can be performed using ultrasonic measuring
equipment linked to a handheld computer.
TORQUE TIGHTENING
Where Configurations preclude the use of bolt tensioning systems,
Furmanite also have a range of hydraulic torque wrenches. These provide
a simple and safe method of controlled tightening and loosening, even
where stubborn, corroded studs or bolts are involved. The tools are
light compact, versatile and have enclosed ratchet guards for operator
safety.
When controlled tightening is not required or fast breakout is the main
objective, a wide variety of impact tools and wrenches is also available
PIPE FREEZING
Pipe freezing is widely acknowledged as a
fast, safe and highly cost-effective method for the temporary isolation
of piping systems to enable maintenance operations or pipe work
modification to be carried out. The method involves the controlled
formation of a solid ice plug inside the pipeline using specialist
equipment and techniques.
Once formed, the plug is able to withstand very high pressure and
provide reliable and effective isolation while repair are carried out.
Projects handled range from single or multiple freezes for isolation of
small or large diameter pipes to major pipeline system modifications.
Applications can be found in a variety of different industries, from the
offshore oil and gas industries, to the power and petrochemical
industries.
